Board members will vote on the appointment during their regularly scheduled board meeting.
The county attorney is an elected position, however state law tasks a county board to appoint a top prosecutor in the event of the elected county attorney leaving office before the end of their term.

The interim appointment follows former County Attorney Mark Ostrem’s retirement earlier this year.
Ostrem was first elected to the office in Nov. of 2006 and was re-elected four times, most recently winning the race to retain his seat in 2024.
Following Ostrom’s late March-departure, county board members appointed Eric Woodford as Acting County Attorney.
County Board to Appoint Interim Olmsted County Attorney Tuesday
On Tuesday, the board will appoint an interim county attorney to serve out the rest of Ostrem’s term, which expires in January of 2027.
The agenda item does not name the candidates nor does it say how many candidates are being considered for the role.
County board members have taken applications and have conducted interviews prior to Tuesday’s vote, the meeting item says. The interim county attorney will officially take office on Monday, April 21.
