Repeat Rochester Porch Pirate Pleads Guilty in Another Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman has been convicted in a recent “porch pirate” case.
Fifty-two-year-old Connie Lyn Ziemann was arrested in early October after Rochester police were dispatched to a southeast Rochester residence to investigate a report of mail theft. Court documents say a homeowner reported that a package had been stolen from her front steps and the theft was captured on her home’s security camera.

Officer Tracks Suspect After Multiple Mail Theft Reports
The criminal complaint against Ziemann says Rochester police responded several hours later to a report in southeast Rochester of a person on a bicycle using a flashlight to look at mailboxes. The responding officer located Ziemann on a bike holding a flashlight and carrying a bag.

According to the court document, the officer reported inconsistencies in Ziemann’s explanation of her activities and noted that her description of her travels on the bike matched the locations of reported mail thefts. The criminal complaint says Ziemann was found in possession of numerous items linked to mail thefts from seven individual victims in the area.
She was charged with seven counts of felony mail theft. Through a plea agreement reached this week, Ziemann admitted to two of the charges and is scheduled to be sentenced in January.
Previous Convictions For Mail Theft and Other Felonies
Court records show that she has an extensive criminal record that includes prior felony convictions for mail theft and first-degree drug offenses. Ziemann has also been convicted of multiple misdemeanor theft- and fraud-related crimes.
