
Five-Year Sentence Issued in Rochester Gun Threat Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sent to prison for an incident involving a threat with a gun.
According to the charges in the case, Rochester police responded to a report of an assault involving a firearm at a residence in southeast Rochester in early February. The victim told officers that 45-year-old Timothy McKenzie had taken a handgun and pointed it at his head after threatening and joking about shooting him throughout the day.
Police Reported a Tense Situation at the Time of his Arrest
The criminal complaint says officers found McKenzie walking away from the residence and ordered him to stop and put his hands up. The court document says McKenzie initially reached into his pockets before he complied with the officers’ commands.

The arresting officers reported finding a handgun with a bullet loaded in the chamber in McKenzie’s pocket. The officers stated that McKenzie told them he had been arguing with the victim but denied pointing the gun at him.
He Faced 3 Felony Charges in the Case
McKenzie was charged with second-degree assault, felony terroristic threats, illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a crime of violence, and a gross misdemeanor count of carrying a pistol without a permit. He earlier entered into a plea agreement and admitted to the illegal possession of a firearm charge.

The Rochester man was sentenced today in Olmsted County Court to five years in prison. He was given credit for 211 days he has already spent in jail.
