Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man who was sentenced to five years on probation in 2019 for child pornography convictions is facing a new child pornography charge.

The Olmsted County Attorney's Office on Friday filed a new criminal complaint against 35-year-old Dzenan Kamencic. He is charged with a single count of possession of child pornography stemming from an investigation that began last November when Rochester Police received a cyber tip concerning two child porn videos discovered on the Snapchat social media platform. The videos depicted a young girl who appeared to be 6-8 years old being sexually abused by an adult male.

The criminal complaint says investigators were able to link the Snapchat account to Kamencic and an address in northeast Rochester. Search warrants were executed on a storage locker used by Kamencic while serving a sentence at the Olmsted County work-release facility, the northeast Rochester residence, and a storage unit in northwest Rochester, where a cell phone linked to the Snapchat account was discovered.

Investigators also uncovered evidence that suggests Kamencic went to great lengths to keep his activities on the Internet hidden. That included Tor/torrent browsers installed on the laptop and the cell phone used with the Snapchat account, which had undergone nearly 70 factory resets.

Kamencic was placed on probation in 2019 after an Olmsted County jury found him guilty of three counts of possession of child pornography, but acquitted him of three other charges. He had been accused of possessing multiple sexually explicit images of children as young as 18 months old.

Kamencic was also accused of attempting to course a local high school student to send nude photos to his Instagram account. The 16-year-old girl told investigators that she received an online message from a person who claimed to be in possession of nude photos of her and threatened to release them if she did not send additional photos to him. The criminal complaint also alleged that he contacted an adult woman and later sent nude photos of her to family members and other Instagram users.
