Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The former Minnesota State Trooper who is charged in the Rochester traffic death of an Owatonna high school student has reported to the Olmsted County Jail.

Court records indicate 32-year-old Shane Roper never underwent the standard fingerprinting and booking process after his first court appearance in the case in August. 

A ruling issued by an Olmsted County Judge in September said the court “inadvertently neglected” to order Roper to undergo the process.

The Hayfield man is charged with second-degree manslaughter, criminal vehicular homicide and several counts of criminal vehicular operation for the crash that took the life of 18-year-old Olivia Flores and injured five other people.

The criminal complaint alleges Roper accelerated to a speed of 83 mph without the emergency lights on the squad car activated while he traveled east on 12th Street Southwest after exiting Highway 14.

The court documents say investigators determined he lifted his foot from the accelerator just 1.4 seconds before the deadly collision

Roper was later fired by the State Patrol following an internal investigation in September. Olmsted County Adult Detention Center records indicate Roper reported to the jail Monday morning. 

He was booked and released Monday morning and remains free on no bail.

Roper is scheduled to go to trial in March. His next court date is scheduled for November.
