Masked Illinois Students’ Prank Cancels Class; Criminal Charges Possible
Three Illinois State University students could potentially face criminal charges after an alleged prank that led to class being canceled earlier this week.
Prank Cancels Class
According to the Illinois State University Police Department, three male students entered a classroom while wearing masks. The group reportedly started recording members of the class without consent.
None of the three students were registered for the class.
According to a social media post from the department, campus police were notified of the incident just after 4 p.m. on Feb. 5. The class was canceled after the what police described as a confrontation between a professor and the three men. They later exited the room.
Police Response To Classroom Prank
"University Police investigated and identifies the male students a short time later," Illinois State University Police said. "The students admitted their behavior was a prank directed toward another student in the class."
The trio has been referred to the Student Conduct office. Police say the case "may be reviewed for criminal charges."
