Your Next Road Trip Destination Needs To Be This Amazing Sandwich and Ice Cream Shop in Wisconsin!

About 22 years ago, when I was working in the world of real estate, there was a little sandwich shop that I stopped at a ton that was located on Broadway Ave. in Rochester, Minnesota.  I tried NOT to go there as much as I did but...I was pregnant...and when those cravings hit, you just have to eat.  One craving was for McDonald's french fries.  The other was for the Mr. T at Nelson Cheese.

Nelson Cheese in Rochester became one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat.  And when it closed up for good around 2016, I went one last time and thought it would probably be my last ever to enjoy that amazing sandwich made with turkey.

I was wrong.

5 Reasons Why Your Next Road Trip Should Be Nelson Creamery in Nelson, Wisconsin

Just over the Mississippi River is a super small town named Nelson, Wisconsin.  If you've never had a chance to visit, here are 5 reasons why this should be your next road trip destination.

1. The sandwiches!

• My suggestion is the Mr. T.  There are some giant menu boards on the wall though that you can check out too.

2.  The fun drinks you can enjoy during your meal!

• I had an amazing peach tea that I recommend.  There is a great variety of drinks to enjoy including these fun, flavored sodas.

3.  The Specialty Cheeses

• If you love cheese, this is where you need to come.  There are several coolers full of different types of cheese that would be perfect to show off on your charcuterie board.

4.  Ice Cream!

• The flavors might look different when you visit but it is a must for anyone that stops at Nelson Creamery.

5.  New Glarus Brewing Co. and Local Wines

• Just like the signs says, New Glarus is only available in Wisconsin.  Since Nelson Creamery IS in Wisconsin, there is a great selection of this beer ready for you to take home.  There are also a few walls and tables of wine, some that are even local!
