Tuesday, December 2nd, is National Mutt Day! A day to celebrate the adorable dogs in our lives that are a little mix of everything.

In honor of National Mutt Day, I wanted to feature some mutts that are up for adoption are Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester, MN. Specifically, I wanted to feature the dogs that have been there the longest, waiting for their forever home.

Adopt a Dog from Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester, MN

Thankfully, most of the dogs that Paws and Claws has in their care right now have been there for a month or less.

Yes, a month is still a long time to wait in a kennel with a bunch of other dogs, and it would be way better if they were in a forever home, but there are some dogs who have been there quite a bit longer than that.

So let's try to find the perfect home for these longer-term residents!

Dogs Who Have Been at Paws and Claws in Rochester, MN the Longest

Up first, we have Doug. He has been at Paws and Claws since October 26th, 2025.

Doug is 2 years old and was found as a stray. Because of that, they don't know much about his history, but they do know that he's very friendly and knows some very basic commands.

They say he needs some work on his leash manners, and he's a strong guy, but he's smart, and I'm sure he would be eager to learn.

Next are Ricky and Lucy. They're a bonded pair who have been at Paws and Claws since October 15th, 2025.

They actually were at Paws and Claws in 2021 and got adopted after a few months. But, sadly, their family was moving into an assisted living program and couldn't bring these two with...

Ricky and Lucy, both around 6 years old, love going on walks and getting pets. They've lived with cats and were good with them, plus, they're used to being around kids ages 2-12. These two would be an easy addition to nearly any family!

Then we've got Boris, who has been at Paws and Claws since October 13th, 2025.

Boris is about 3 years old and was found as a stray. They don't know what happened in his past, but they do know he's got lots of energy! He loves to go on walks, and they think he'd make a great running or hiking partner (after he learns some leash manners).

Next is Marge, who has been at Paws and Claws since October 9th, 2025.

Marge, who is about 3 years old, was found as a stray but is super sweet. She loves people and lots of attention, but is quite strong on a leash, so she'll need some training. After the training, though, it sounds like she'd be an amazing dog!

Up next, we have another bonded pair, Simba (almost 4 years old) and Wolfy (almost 5), who are brothers and have been at Paws and Claws since September 28th, 2025.

These two are big boys, both well over 100 pounds, but look at those cuddly faces! They are both described as playful and friendly. They also love to play and run around. They'll definitely need regular grooming because of their coats, and they also are not good with cats. Dogs are fine, but they prefer each other's company.

Then we've got Todd, who has been at Paws and Claws since September 27th, 2025.

Todd, who is almost 4 years old, was transferred from another rescue, so really, he's been waiting longer than 2 months for his forever home. They say he keeps his kennel clean, so it's possible he's housetrained, and he knows some basic commands. He has a lot of energy, though, and is still working on his leash manners. He'll need a home that is ready to teach him the ropes.

And last but not least, we have the longest current resident of Paws and Claws, and that is Ichiro.

Ichrio, who is about 4 years old, has been at Paws and Claws since August 12th, 2025. He was let down in his past, was in really rough shape when he was found, but now he's all cleaned up (and got shaved, that's why he may look a little funny in his picture), and is ready for a forever home.

He's at least a Chow Chow mix, if not 100% Chow Chow, and therefore needs slow introductions to new people. Once you're Ichiro-approved, though, he'll be your buddy. He needs to go to a home with adults only or kids over 12.
