I've been to one of our cat cafes before and it was a blast! It's also a great way to get cats adopted. Yes, all of the cats in the cat cafes are available for adoption through a local shelter if you're looking to add a furry friend to your family.

A quick note for anyone who has allergies, the cat area of the cat cafes is separate from the main cafe area. So if you're allergic but still want to support the cats and the cafe's mission, you can stop in for a coffee.

Cat Cafes in Minnesota

Minnesota is now home to three cat cafes. The first two are two locations of The Cafe Meow. One is in Roseville and the other is in New Hope. I went to The Cafe Meow when they were in Minneapolis before they moved to Roseville.

The Cafe Meow has up to 30 adoptable cats in each of their cat lounges all from local shelters. To go into the cat lounge area you need to book a specific time slot.

To get in, it'll cost $10.50 per person on the weekdays and $15 per person on the weekends. This charge covers the costs of the cats' care while they're at The Cafe Meow.

You'll sign up for your time slot online, then arrive at The Cafe Meow a little early to grab yourself a drink. Then, when it's your time, you'll head into the cat lounge, and yes, you can bring your drink.

Each session gets you one hour with the cats. You can play with them, have them lay on you for some cuddle time, or there are some that just want to observe.

The third cat cafe we have in Minnesota is in Duluth and it's called Wired Whisker. They just opened in 2023.

Their set-up is just like The Cafe Meow: book a time online, the cafe is separate from the cat lounge, and all of the cats are available for adoption.

Wired Whisker costs $7 on the weekdays, $10 on the weekends, and gets you 50 minutes with the cats.

Something that Wired Whisker offers that I don't believe The Cafe Meow offers is that you an book out the cat room for a private group. So you could book the room for 50 minutes so you and your friends can have some alone time with the cats.

Both The Cafe Meow and Wired Whisker offer fun events too, like Catgo (Bingo but with cats) and yoga with cats.
