What Is Being Built in Front of the Crossroads Hy-Vee in Rochester?
My son celebrated a birthday over the weekend, which meant a mandatory trip over to the Apache Mall to let him pick out some birthday gear. On the way home, we made a quick pit stop for snacks at the Hy-Vee off Crossroads Drive SW.
I rarely drive in that area, so the construction happening in front of the grocery store immediately caught my eye.

It’s nearly impossible to go anywhere in Rochester right now without running into a road-closed sign, construction barrels, or the frame for a new building.
As we were shopping at Hy-Vee, I wondered what the new building would be. A new fast-casual food spot? Another drive-thru coffee joint? A retail store?
What's Being Built in Front of the Crossroads Hy-Vee in Rochester
After the birthday celebration wrapped up, I dug into the city building permits to find out what's actually being built.
If you had another bank on your Rochester construction bingo card, go ahead and claim your prize. It turns out the new building taking shape right outside the Crossroads Hy-Vee is a brand-new Chase Bank.
This is actually the second Chase Bank currently under construction in town. Previously, we reported on a new branch going up next to the former Cub Foods in NW Rochester, which is scheduled to open later this year. This new Crossroads location will open in early 2027.
