Here’s What the Average Minnesota Wedding Now Costs
Here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, love is often in the air. But it also should be in your bank account, because if you're planning on getting married, the average cost of a wedding has just hit its highest amount ever.
According to the most recently available World Population Review, 50.8 percent of Minnesotans reported being married in 2026. That's a very slight (.09%) decrease from 2025, but still well above the national average of 47 percent.
Minnesota Remains One of the Most Married States
It also puts the North Star State on the list of the top ten states with the highest marriage rate. Minnesota ranked 7th on the most recent World Population Review marriage rate list, with Utah topping the list, followed by Idaho and Wyoming.

According to a new survey from the marriage and wedding site, The Knot, around 2 million couples across the U.S. got married in 2025. Overall, those couples spent over $100 billion in total wedding event spending last year.
The survey noted that on average, couples in 2025 were engaged for around 14 months before ultimately walking down the aisle. They no doubt used that time to plan the perfect ceremony and reception to celebrate their nuptials. Or maybe they used it to pick up a new side hustle to help pay for those weddings, because the cost of the average celebration is eye-popping.
The Average Minnesota Wedding Now Costs More Than Ever
The Knot survey noted that the average wedding here in Minnesota in 2019 cost $28,000. That figure included an average of 131 guests, with 10 people in the wedding party itself, working out to an average of a cost per guest of $214. Couples in 2019 used an average of 15 vendors to help plan and pull off their big day.
But here in 2026, that figure is even higher! The Knot says that the average wedding here in Minnesota and across the country last year (the most recent year they collected data on) was a whopping $34,200! That figure included an average of 117 guests, with 8 people in the wedding party itself, working out to an average of a cost per guest of $292. Couples in 2025 used an average of 13 vendors to help plan and pull off their big day.
Why Wedding Costs Keep Rising in Minnesota
So, in just six years, while the average number of guests and the number of those in the wedding party decreased, the average cost per guest jumped nearly 80 dollars per person!
The Knot said that over 85 percent of couples in the survey said the economy, inflation and rising prices had impacted their weddingplanning and decision making, with over half saying they reworked parts of their original plan to try to keep things more affordable.
