Who’s Got the Biggest Meatballs in Rockford? I’m Asking for a Friend (and a Fork)
It started with a post in the What's Happening in Rockford IL? Facebook group that simply asked:
I am looking for a restaurant in Rockford that has giant very delicious meatballs !!!
That one innocent question sent me down a saucy rabbit hole I didn’t know I needed in my life. Because while “most delicious” is totally subjective, biggest? That’s something we can measure. Literally.
The 10-Ounce Heavyweight at Franchesco’s
Someone in the comments claimed that Franchesco’s Ristorante serves a meatball the size of a small planet. So, I texted owner Benny Salamone to get the truth — and he confirmed it: Franchesco’s serves a 10-ounce meatball. Ten ounces of beefy, saucy glory. He even sent me photo proof (check it out below).
But Is It the Biggest in Rockford?
That’s what I’m dying to know. A few other names popped up in the comments — places like Lino’s, Capri, Salamone’s in Cherry Valley, and Sam’s Ristorante. But does anyone else have a meatball that can out-muscle Franchesco’s ten-ounce titan?
