My $10 Garage Sale Find in Rockford Might Be Worth Thousands
I usually don't score this big when I go garage saling.
I'm usually ther person looking at anything and everything asking myself, "What could I could that for?" and end up impulse buying all sorts of random things I don't need for my apartment.
This past weekend, I bought the most interesting thing to add to my collection, and it was only $10.

A friend of mine posted that they were having a garage sale on Facebook, and while looking through all the photos of their sale, I saw something that made me shoot out of bed: an armored mannequin.
I figured it had to be relatively expensive because mannequins always are. This was super unique, looking like it belonged in a museum, so I was ready for the price to be $50 to $200.
So, I drove over to the sale, walked up....
ONLY $10.
TEN. DOLLARS.
I didn't even bother trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. It was an impulse buy. I handed over the money, threw the mannequin in my trunk and drove home with no plan.
That's when I started Googling image searching this thing. First, let me show it to you.
From what I found, the mannequin appears to be a navy sculpture made of fiberglass, depicting a figure in a 19th-century dress. It resembles an 1805 British Royal Navy uniform, complete with faux-brass buttons and painted text reading "By Royal Appointment, Uniforms to the Admiralty 1805." It's mounted on a turned wood and scrolled-wire stand.
Apparently, similar pieces can potentially be worth a few thousand dollars.
I'm not saying I have a $3,000 mannequin sitting in my house. I have no idea what mine is actually worth, and mine is missing the lamp fixture that some similar versions seem to have.
But still...
I PAID TEN DOLLARS FOR THIS THING. Now to figure out where to put it in my house because I am not selling this bad boy.
