One Of Illinois’ Most Annoying Toll Booths Is Finally Changing
If you drive from Rockford to O'Hare very often, there's one toll plaza that probably makes you sigh every single time.
How many times do you feel like you're paying for nothing other than the privilege of driving on the highway in Illinois? Especially when you feel like some of the roads aren't that great to begin with?

Saying Goodbye to One of Illinois' Most Annoying Toll Booths
Then there are some of the archaic toll booths that still exist, including one of the most annoying in the entire state.
It's the toll plaza at the O'Hare Interchange, southbound I-294 to westbound I-190 and eastbound I-90 to westbound I-190. Just beyond that are a bunch of cars hogging the shoulder to pick up people flying into O'Hare. On top of that toll, it can get really dodgy really quickly at that booth.

The O'Hare Interchange Nightmare: Chaos on the Shoulder
Well, there's good news and bad news regarding that toll; it's being relocated.
Illinois Tollway crews were supposed to work on the plaza last night, but it may spill into other days. The upgrades to this toll are:
- Support a barrier-free cashless toll system
- Improve traffic flow
- Replace aging infrastructure
- Remove outdated toll plaza obstacles
Those are good improvements to modernize one of the busiest highway interchanges in the Chicago area.
If the Illinois Tollway could just do something about all those cars that park along the shoulder just past this toll, that would be even better.
