Let's be honest, there are way too many dumb criminals trying to pull off stupid crimes. It usually doesn't pay off for them. They're trying to find the easiest way to make a quick buck and not thinking the job through completely.

You've got to give them credit for their effort, even if it doesn't work, because they'll be back to try and break the law again soon. The criminals are always coming up with new scams, schemes, and ways to steal.
These burglars in Illinois are now hitting homes, businesses, and buildings that are under construction. It's not a bad idea. If they go after hours, there's nobody at the locations. Plus, the place is loaded with valuable merchandise.

Police said the thieves go through the back doors, kick open doors, or even walk in while workers are there.
The burglaries all take place in the early evening hours, as workers typically are leaving for the day.
With no cameras, lax security, and tools out in the open, Riccio said homes under construction are the perfect spot for thieves to target.
This is going to cause construction costs to go up because companies are now going to have to hire guards and install security systems to help prevent theft. In the long run, it will probably be cheaper, but it sucks that it has come to this.
