I'm a big fan of concerts. Luckily, we get many bands coming through Illinois. My favorite is outdoor shows in the summer. There isn't an experience like it in live music. Especially, if the location is a non-traditional venue.

Another thing I enjoy doing in the summer with my family is going to the zoo. It's something I did with my parents as a kid and now I do it with my family. I remember when I was growing up, the zoo had animals and that was it. Now, they have all kinds of other attractions and events.

One of the best zoos I've ever been to is right here in Illinois. That's Brookfield Zoo. They have a lot of fun things to check out there. It's not too far from where I grew up so I have some great memories of the place.

One of my buddies from college lives within walking distance from Brookfield Zoo. He's told me about their summer concert series for years. It sounds like a good time but I've never had the opportunity to check it out. They usually have local cover bands but this year is the zoo's 90th anniversary so they're stepping up their game.
