Illinois Festival Will Celebrate the Colors of Fall Along Lake Michigan
A free festival is coming to a state park in Illinois, celebrating the season with fun activities for the family along Lake Michigan.

According to a press release from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), families are invited to immerse themselves in the beauty of autumn at the Fall Nature Fest.

Planned for Saturday, October 18, at Illinois Beach State Park, this free, family-friendly event runs from 10 am to 2 pm and promises to be a day filled with nature exploration, hands-on activities, and wildlife encounters along the scenic Lake Michigan shoreline.
A Day of Discovery and Outdoor Fun
Festival guests can enjoy guided hikes through the park's dunes, prairies, and woodlands led by naturalists.
Interactive exhibits will offer the chance for learning and adventure, including archery and other outdoor recreation for all ages.
One of the highlights of the event will be live animal presentations hosted by IDNR staff from the William W. Powers State Recreation Area in Chicago, who will highlight native wildlife from across Illinois.
Celebrating Illinois' Natural Heritage
According to the press release, the Fall Nature Fest is being supported by partners like the University of Illinois Extension's Master Naturalists, Lake County Forest Preserves, and the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant.

Discover a gem of a state park with more than 4,100 acres of dunes, marshes, and forests at Illinois Beach State Park.
According to the press release, it remains the only beach ridge shoreline left in Illinois, and offers camping, fishing, boating, hiking, and breathtaking views of the fall landscape.
