After Six Decades, Village Green Sets Final Days of Business in Rockford

Village Green has been considered one of Rockford's best garden centers by many people in the area for over 60 years, and soon they will be closing for good.

As a lifelong Rockford resident, I grew up knowing that Village Green was one of the best places in the area to go for high-quality plants and flowers.

I think by now you get my point. Village Green has played a big part in the Rockford community for over 60 years, and in just a few weeks their final chapter is ending.

Village Green's Closing Date

In 2024, Village Green announced they were closing their store on N Main in Rockford and moving all business to their Riverside location. Then in October 2025 they hit us with more sad news:

Village Green is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Platt Hill Nursery for the sale of our Riverside operations. While Village Green will close at the end of this year, we are thrilled to be passing the torch to another well-established family-owned garden center with whom we will forever be rooted together due to our shared legacy and commitment to keeping a garden center in this community.

While I may be sad to see another long-standing Rockford business close, it is nice to know that another family-owned business who believes in supporting the community will be taking its place.

Village Green's last day of operation will be December 23, 2025. Better hurry in now to snag some big deals and beautiful holiday greenery while you still can!
