10 Of The Most Rage-Inducing Streets In Rockford, Illinois
If you find yourself falling victim to road rage behind the wheel more often than you care to admit, here are 10 areas you should probably avoid driving at in Rockford, Illinois.
Rockford Road Rules
When you live in one area for a long period of time you learn some important things quickly when it comes to driving;
- What roads and streets have the most lights.
- Places cops tend to set up speed traps.
- The worst places to get stuck in traffic.
I have lived in the Rockford area my entire life, and there are two things I know for sure: there are a lot of terrible drivers in this city, and people like to complain about these terrible drivers constantly.
10 Rage-Inducing Roads in Rockford, Illinois
After surviving another stressful commute into work recently we decided to ask this question;
Several people responded with comments like "all the streets of Rockford" or "every main thoroughfare", (which is sad but slightly true). Others said things like "Walmart parking lot" or "McDonald's drive-thru on Alpine", (which is absolutely valid).
When it comes to specific areas where it really sucks to drive, these 10 places received the most mentions:
For over a decade I lived in a subdivision just past this intersection, and yes, it can be completely terrible thanks to drivers that can't seem to figure out how a double turn lane works.
I used to be terrified to drive through any roundabout, but I now drive this specific one 2 times a day, 5 days a week. I don't usually become enraged while driving through it, BUT I have some pretty ridiculous things happen there.
Personally, I think Alpine is the most frustrating road to drive on in the entire city of Rockford, and apparently I am not alone.
Perryville Road is a hot mess of people driving too fast and too slow all at the same time. Have you ever tried to turn left on to E State from Perryville during the holiday shopping season? It's the worst thing EVER.
I can't recall having any swear-worthy incidents at this particular intersection, but the fact that Perryville is involved is all I need to know.
Again, Alpine Road and its one million traffic lights is the worst.
It seems like some part of Bypass 20 is always under construction, which only leads to frustrating traffic situations.
The access to Sam's Club is one of the dumbest road designs I have ever seen and I cannot understand why a better way to get into the parking lot, (especially off of Perryville) hasn't been created yet.
This is one area I don't travel frequently, and now I never want to.
Alpine Road again. Enough said.
