Major Update – Dollar Fresh NOT Replacing Erdman’s in Kasson

Yesterday we reported Dollar Fresh (a Hy-Vee brand) will be replacing Erdman's Country Market in Kasson. Today, that has changed. The store will be turned into a full fledged Hy-Vee store.

Kasson, Minnesota is getting ready to say goodbye to Erdman's Country Market and say hello to Hy-Vee, but not the way everyone probably thought. The store will not be branded as "Hy-Vee." Instead, it'll be branded "Hy-Vee Dollar Fresh" when the sale is complete, which is expected October 1st. (Keep reading here)

Tina Potthoff, Senior Vice President, Communications of Hy-Vee, Inc. just sent me a note saying,

After further review by our leadership team and community feedback, we have decided to convert Erdman’s to a Hy-Vee store versus a Dollar Fresh store. With a Hy-Vee store, we will be bringing more offerings and services as well as a more robust product selection.

Erdman's County Market will still close as planned (on September 30th at 6PM), however, now we know the remodel will take until mid-November.

What about the employees? Yesterday I asked if there will be a reduction in employees...

TINA POTHOFF - All Erdman's employees will be offered positions at the Kasson Dollar Fresh or a nearby Hy-Vee store in Rochester, Minnesota. There are enough openings at our Rochester stores for all qualified Erdman's employees.

That still hold true, with one clarification. "All Erdman’s employees will be offered positions at our Rochester stores in the interim so there is no disruption in pay." So jobs after they open and jobs during the remodel.
