Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man caught driving more than 50 mph over the speed limit has pleaded guilty.

A state trooper spotted the mega-speeder on Highway 63 near Cycle City around 4:00 am May 15, 2021.

While pursuing the vehicle, the trooper noted a top speed of 118 mph in the 65 mph zone.

The trooper pulled the driver over after he exited to northbound Highway 52. The driver was identified as Kapi Kuku, who was 19-years-old at the time. According to the citation, Kuku told the trooper he had been in Austin and “was trying to get home. “

He pleaded guilty Monday and was fined $390.

Kuku was one of three motorists caught driving over 100 mph in the Rochester area last May.
