Minnesota Hits New Records for COVID Deaths and Hospitalizations
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The grim COVID-19 statistics for Minnesota have reached new record highs for a second straight day.
The Minnesota Department of Health today reported another 72 coronavirus related deaths statewide. That included three residents of Winona County and a person living in Goodhue County.
Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 also continue to mount. The overall number of COVID hospitalizations now exceeds 1750 and the number of patients being treated in intensive care units has climbed to almost 370.
The State Health Department says the number of new confirmed and probable COVID-19 infections reported today was close to 7900, with 159 new cases reported in Olmsted County. Over 55,000 COVID-19 tests were completed in Minnesota on Wednesday for a daily positivity rate of about 14.3-percent.
