Today, Governor Walz loosened COVID-19 restrictions on Minnesota businesses allowing restaurants, bars, gyms, theaters, pools, and other businesses to reopen on June 10th, but capacity will be limited.

“Thank you, Minnesotans, for the sacrifices you’ve made to slow the spread of COVID-19,” Governor Walz said. “Thanks to your dedication, we are now in a position to carefully turn the dial toward reopening society. As we move forward, it is more important than ever that we each do our part as we trust and rely on each other to keep our state safe.”

Here are the details of phase III of the Minnesota Stay Safe Plan:

  • Social gatherings: Outdoors -- 25 people or less. Indoors -- 10 people or less. Drive-in gatherings allowed per MDH guidelines.
  • Indoor dining at restaurants and bars will be allowed but capacity will be limited to 50% with no more than 250 people allowed in at once. Reservations required. Masks required for workers, strongly recommended for customers.
  • Retail is open at 50% capacity, must have COVID-19 preparedness plan
  • Hair salons, barbers, and tattoo shops can also open with 50% capacity. Appointments required. Masks required for workers and customers.
  • Gyms and fitness centers can reopen with 25% capacity not to exceed 250 people. Masks strongly recommended for workers and users, except while actively exercising.
  • Theaters and other entertainment businesses are capped at 25% capacity at this time.
  • Swimming Pools can reopen but will be limited to 50% capacity.
  • Campgrounds and charger boats open with guidance
  • Places of worship, religious services, weddings, and funerals will have an indoor and outdoor max capacity of 250 people within a single self-contained space. Masks strongly recommended for workers and attendees.
  • Outdoor recreation activities are open per DNR's outdoor recreation plan.
  • Organized sports (adult and youth) are open with guidance.
  • Youth programming is open per MDH guidance and CDC guidance.
  • Child Care is open per CDC guidance.
  • School Buildings are open with hybrid model for summer learning and programs per CDC and MDH guidance, and commissioner approval.
  • Outdoor events and other entertainment open with a max capacity of 250 people. Masks strongly recommended for workers and customers.
  • Indoor Events and Entertainment open with a max capacity of 25% not to exceed 250 people in an area. Masks strongly recommended.
  • Critical Business is open (must telework if you can, must have a COVID-19 preparedness plan by June 29, 2020).
  • Non-critical business (non-customer facing) is Open (must telework if you can, must have COVID-19 preparedness plan)
