St Paul (KROC AM News) - They were there during a deadly bombing and dealt with the chaos at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan the last two weeks and now they are back with their unit.

The Minnesota National Guard reported Tuesday night that 400 of its soldiers from a unit that was deployed to Kuwait earlier this year had safely left Afghanistan and returned to their base.

They were among the final US soldiers to leave Afghanistan.

The group was sent to Kabul “to provide perimeter security at the airport.”

The MNG says they also “provided humanitarian assistance to U.S. citizens, Special Immigrant Visa holders, and their families.”
