Minnesota’s Most Popular Thanksgiving Side Dish Is One You Would Never Expect
When you sit and gather for a meal on Thanksgiving there are so many different side dishes including mashed potatoes, rolls, stuffing, gravy (yes, gravy is a side dish!), and of course the turkey.
For me personally, it is always the mashed potatoes that are the first thing on the plate. Heaping helpings of mashed potatoes covered in gravy. I am getting hungry just typing this.
But, what is the most popular Thanksgiving side dish in Minnesota? Well, according to Zippa it is a side dish that you would never expect. In fact, my family doesn't even have one of these at Thanksgiving. (Maybe we are doing it wrong?!)
Minnesota's Most Popular Thanksgiving Side Dish Is A Charcuterie Tray
Do you have a Charcuterie Tray at Thanksgiving? It is one of the last side dishes I would ever think about when it comes to Thanksgiving.
Zippia took a look at Google Trends to figure this one out.
"Using Google Trends, we determined what Thanksgiving side each state eats a disproportionate amount of. We examined over 20 Thanksgiving classics. From there, we determined what side is searched a disproportionately, high amount."
I am not exactly sure that Google Trends is a great way to find the favorite side dishes. Who Google's their favorite side dishes? Don't you just make them because they are your favorite? Again, I can be wrong here but it does seem a little strange, doesn't it?
Of course, this could change every year, but for 2020 it was the Charcuterie Tray in Minnesota was at the top of this list. The most popular in the entire country was mashed potatoes. You can see the full results here.
Also, no Green Bean Casserole?! That seems a bit strange that no state had that, although Green Beans and Hashbrown Casserole made the list.
