More Boxed Food Recalled Because of Salmonella Contamination
Ok, this can't just be in my head. Do you feel like there is another recall of food every other day? Or is it one of those things that I'm just so much more aware of right now? Regardless, I don't like it. The latest food item to hit the recall block - cake mix.
Four different Duncan Hines cake mixes are being recalled because they may be contaminated with Salmonella - Classic White, Classic Butter Golden, Signature Confetti, and Classic Yellow.
According to the FDA press release, the recall is being considered "precautionary." Salmonella was found in a retail sample of Duncan Hines Classic cake mix, and that sample may be linked to an outbreak being investigated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration. Because of that the food company that produces Duncan Hines cake mix, Conagra, voluntarily recalled the four cake mixes made during the same time period.
The recall includes:
- Duncan Hines Classic White Cake 15.25oz
Best if used by date: March 7-13, 2019
- Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake 15.25oz
Best if used by date: March 9-13, 2019
- Duncan Hines Classic Butter Golden Cake 15.25oz
Best if used by date: March 7-9, 2019
- Duncan Hines Signature Confetti Cake 15.25oz
Best if used by date: March 12-13, 2019
Consumers are urged to return the cake mixes to the store.
