Mower County Reports Second COVID-19 Death
ST. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - One of the coronavirus-related deaths reported today by the Minnesota Department of Health involved a resident of Mower County.
State health officials say the individual was in their sixties and was among the 14 new COVID-19 deaths reported on Sunday. Mower County also reported 15 new confirmed cases of the illness through tests that were completed on Saturday, which raised the county's overall total to 318 cases and 2 deaths. By comparison, Olmsted County has now seen 626 cases and 10 deaths.
Overall, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 664 new confirmed COVID-19 cases statewide, including 18 new cases in Olmsted County. The number of people listed as recovered and no longer requiring isolation grew to over 18,600.
Hospitalizations due to the coronavirus were down modestly on Saturday, while the number of ICU beds used by COVID-19 cases was nearly steady. The health department says 555 people are currently hospitalized with the illness and 257 are in intensive care.
