Name of Amish Buggy Crash Victim Released
Canton, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the young man who died Friday afternoon following a hit and run crash involving an Amish buggy near Canton.
Sheriff Tom Kaases says 21-year-old William Stutzman of rural Harmony died from his injuries at a La Crosse hospital following the collision on Fillmore County Road 21. Two other occupants of the buggy, ages 17 and 19, suffered non-life threatening injuries when the horse-drawn vehicle was struck by a car driven by a 24-year-old man from Canton.
Sheriff Kaase says Connor Keene is accused of leaving the scene of the fatal crash and is expected to be formally charged this week with criminal vehicular homicide and possibly several other felony offenses. Keene was arrested on Friday after the vehicle involved in the collision was located in a farm field a few miles away and a K-9 officer tracked him down. He is currently being held in the Fillmore County Jail.
