A total of $500,000 has been appropriated for the grant program, which will benefit local businesses that hold licenses issued by the City of Rochester. A news release says grant awards to liquor license holders could be as high as $4000, while other license holders may be eligible to receive grants of up to $1000 depending on the classification.

City License Examiner Christiaan Cartwright shares, “We hope that this grant program offers our local license holding businesses some relief. The past and ongoing impacts of COVID-19 are challenging and we are committed to being the best partners we can be in this time of need.”

The news release says there are approximately 300 businesses licensed through the City Clerk's Office. $420,000 is being directed to liquor license holders with the remainder allocated to assist the holders of other types of city licenses. The grant money can be used for anything related to COVID 19 closures, impacts, and expenditures.

The online grant application portal is scheduled to go live at 2 PM on Thursday.
