It seemed to be a pretty successful opening weekend of deer hunting across the state of Minnesota. As of November 11th, just over 81,000 deer were harvested and registered according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The exact number was 81,185 as of 9 AM Monday morning. The current deer harvest numbers are generated from the DNR's electronic licensing and registration system and may contain some errors. The data provided also does not include deer harvested during special hunts.

My family was hunting up in the Long Prairie area and did well this year. Both my parents and myself were tagged out before 11 am on Saturday, which we have never done before. There were deer a plenty in that neck of the woods, and in that area alone there were over 2,000 deer harvested and registered. I was hard pressed to find a hunter that didn't at least see one while they were sitting.

I broke my four year long dry spell and got myself a larger doe, and my fiance broke his dry spell as well scoring a 14 point buck.

Hopefully everyone had a safe opening weekend, and good luck to everyone going out next weekend!
