In my long ago childhood, my father did something with the Nativity Scene I thought was hilarious and cool. It is so simple and easy to do. It came up on the Y-105FM Early Morning Show today (totally in time for Christmas). Check it out.

The basic idea is simple. The Wise men weren't in the manger visiting Baby Jesus before his birth. They had to make their way there. First, gather up he gold, frankincense and myrrh, and then start their trek.

So, naturally, the wise men should not be in the manger until at LEAST Christmas day (maybe even a few days later). It goes without saying, Baby Jesus shouldn't be there yet, either.

Baby Jesus appears Christmas Day (or eve...since its an approximation anyway, your choice). And the same day, or days after, the Wise Men arrive. Where have they been? Traveling all over your house, of course! Each day I tried to find out where they were in their move across the desert / bedrooms, hallways, stairs, etc. and your kids will, too.

Nothing fancy, but it keeps at least a little focus on the Christ part of Christmas.
