Those of us who live here know that there are a lot of good reasons to call Minnesota home. Sure, it's not perfect. Mosquitoes and never-ending winters are a few aspects of our fair state that some people don't like. But, it turns out more people are wanting to move here than move away - by quite a large margin!

A new study from do-it-yourself moving and self-storage company U-Haul has revealed that Minnesota ranked third in the company's 2016 "U.S. Growth States" study. The Land of 10,000 Lakes moved up nine spots from the 2015 study.

"Arrivals made up 50.9 percent of U-Haul traffic in the state in 2016. St. Paul, Mankato, Alexandria and Apple Valley paced the net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks," according to a story on the U-Haul website. "St. Paul ranks ninth among U.S. Growth Cities for populations of more than 50,000."

U-Haul generates its annual growth study based on the number of its one-way truck rentals entering the state versus leaving the state. The company says that while its study isn't a direct correlation to population or economic growth, it is an effective gauge of how well cities and states are attracting and retaining residents.

The real question is, why are people coming to Minnesota? If you've come to the state from somewhere else, what brought you here? And if you've lived here a long time, or all your life, what keeps you here? Tell us! We want to know!
