National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday April 29.  Fillmore County Sheriff's Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) along with Preston/Lanesboro PD and Rushford PD will take part in the program. From 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. April 29, the public can bring potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs to one of the drop off locations listed below.  No liquids, needles or sharps will be accepted. This is a free and anonymous service with no questions asked.  Drop off locations: Fillmore County Sheriff's Office, Preston.  Harmony City Hall.  Lanesboro City Hall.  Spring Valley Fire Department and Rushford Police Department.
In the previous twelve Take Back events, DEA and its partners have collected over 7.1 million pounds of pills.  The DEA advises that flushing unused medications down the toilet or throwing them in the trash pose potential safety and health hazards.
