Rochester City Council Passes On Park Board President Controversy
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It wasn’t on the agenda but there were some comments at Monday night’s Rochester City Council meeting about the Park Board president.
Council members have apparently been hearing from residents who are upset about comments from Linnea Archer at a recent Park Board meeting. Archer commented on the American flag and how it may not be viewed favorably by some in the community.
Two citizens who took part in the council’s virtual meeting criticized her comments and said she should resign.
Councilmember Shaun Palmer also criticized Archer’s comments.
Palmer said Archer has “really made it complicated for the Park Board to do its mission. I really hope she rethinks her position. What she said about the flag was just wrong."
He added, “There is no reason for people to be rude or threatening, But her timing was poor. She needs to think about what’s better for the parks.”
The council took no action on the issue.
