Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Wednesday's storm kept Rochester’s public safety workers busy all night.

The Rochester Fire Department is reporting it responded to 35 calls for assistance between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday.

RFD says the calls included multiple small fires, gas leaks, downed power lines, and other hazards caused by falling trees. One resident in SE Rochester was trapped in his home when a large tree fell and blocked his front doorway. Firefighters used chainsaws to cut away a section of the tree so the person could get out.

And crews responded to a garage fire. It was reported around 12:30 am Thursday at 2307 7th Ave. NE. RFD says a burning transformer on a power pole spread to the nearby detached garage. There were no injuries and the nearby house was not affected by the fire.

LOOK: Things from the year you were born that don't exist anymore

The iconic (and at times silly) toys, technologies, and electronics have been usurped since their grand entrance, either by advances in technology or breakthroughs in common sense. See how many things on this list trigger childhood memories—and which ones were here and gone so fast you missed them entirely.
