Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Rochester may experience a 50-degree swing in temperatures in one week.

Sunday’s official high temperature was -8  at the Rochester airport - the city’s coldest maximum temperature for Feb. 14. The low was -19.

A new record was set Monday morning when the airport temperature dropped to -21 at 6:00 am. The previous record low was -19 degrees.

Rochester is currently in a streak of below zero weather that has reached four days, just three days shy of the record.

It has also reached 10 days without a high of 10 degrees, the third-longest such streak on record. The longest is 15 days.

Those streaks will continue as temperatures will likely remain below zero Monday and rise into the single digits Tuesday.

By this coming Sunday, the city may be basking in temperatures that reach the low 30s.

News update: Firefighters battle bitterly cold weather in response to a house fire in the Red Wing area.
