Rochester Police Dept. Helps With Grocery Deliveries
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Police Department Community Service Officers are making grocery deliveries to at-risk and elderly Rochester.
A news release says the initiative began when Parking Control Officer Janet Schofield recognized that many older and high-risk residents would be facing major challenges in getting food and other basic supplies while the COVID-19 Stay at Home order remains in effect. She was the person who contacted Cub Foods Manager Joseph Thompson to form a partnership.
“When Janet first reached out, I couldn’t think of a better way we could give back to a community who has supported our business for so many years,” said Thompson. “We are happy to be part of the response effort for Rochester and proud to partner with our local community service officers to do so.”
The service is being offered Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm. The orders need to be placed online at shop.cub.com. After signing up for the service, customers will enter “PD” for first name and “Delivery” for the last name. The grocery store has indicated it will call the customer once the order is received.
As for lights and sirens. You could always ask.
