Before you head out Black Friday shopping, check out today's rock-n-roll history.

It pays to be famous!  In 1965, Harrod's Department Store in London closed their doors to the public so The Beatles could do their Christmas shopping in private.

In 1976, The Last Waltz, The Band's final concert was held at San Francisco's Winterland and included performances by guests Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Neil Young, Ringo  Starr and others.

"Do They Know It's Christmas?", what a great song, was recorded in 1984 in London, England.  The song featured many music mega-stars including Sting, Phil Collins, and Paul Young.  Proceeds from the sales of the record were used for famine relief in Ethiopia.

Girls rule!  In 1986 for the first time in Billboard history, the first three spots on the charts were held by women!  The #1 song was Cyndi Lauper and "True Colors", #2 "Typical Male" by Tina Turner and #3 Janet Jackson and "When I Think of You".

More than six thousand dollars worth of property including clothes, shoes, and gold records were stolen in 2000 from Alice Cooper's home.  And finally, in 2010 Billy Joel was resting and recuperating following hip replacement the week prior to fix a congenital hip condition.
