According to a post on the Root River Trail Trail Towns website, The trail towns created a list that community members and visitors can patronize safely on Saturday, December 5th. That includes retail, takeout opportunities, and online shopping options.

The intention is to encourage shopping locally right here in Southeast Minnesota, as everyone knows 2020 has been a challenging year for several businesses and this event is meant to help boost local businesses and organizations this Holiday Season, safely.

The list of businesses can be found here and includes businesses in Fountain, Preston, Harmony, Lanesboro, Whalan, Peterson, Rushford Area, and Houston.

This is a great idea and a great way to support local businesses right here in our communities.

The Root River Trail Towns also wanted folks to remember important things to stay safe including:

"1. Wear your masks.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Social distance and respect store guidelines while at participating businesses.
4. Stay home if you're sick.
5. Shopping small makes a BIG difference!"

Remember to stay safe and shop local.
