Individuals in Minnesota are being asked to look in their refrigerators and freezers for any strawberries that they may have purchased between March 5th, 2022 and April 25th, 2022. These strawberries may be linked to the latest hepatitis A outbreak in Canada and the United States that has caused 17 people to become ill.

So far, 17 individuals have gotten sick in the latest multistate hepatitis A outbreak and at the moment, it seems as if strawberries are the link. The FDA, CDC, Public Health Agency of Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, along with others are all working together on the investigation. So far, here is what they have determined:
- There is a link to strawberries purchased between March 5th, 2022 and April 25th, 2022. (Could still be in freezers.)
- Brand impacted is FreshKampoo and HEB fresh organic strawberries.
- Sold at the following locations: Aldi, HEB, Kroger, Safeway, Sprouts Farmers Market, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Weis Markets, WinCo Foods, and more.
What people in Minnesota should do if they have any of the strawberries that are part of the current investigation.
According to the FDA, if you have purchased these strawberries and currently have them in your freezer, or if you are unsure of the brand of strawberries that you purchased, you should throw what you have away.
If you ate this product in the past 2 weeks and have not been vaccinated against hepatitis A, you should contact your doctor immediately. Additionally, if you ate the strawberries in the last 2 weeks and are now experiencing symptoms of hepatitis A, you should contact your doctor immediately.
