To be honest I wasn't really planning on watching much if any of the game tonight. But our exchange student was asking me about the Super Bowl. So after turning it on and having it playing in the background I had to stop more than once when I thought I was hearing a familiar voice. Sure enough that voice I thought I was hearing was none other than Brainerd's own Alan Roach, PA announcer for the Minnesota Vikings.

Roach, who is also the in-stadium voice for the Colorado Avalanche and the Colorado Rapids soccer club, has the honor of being the in-stadium voice for the big game for the 12th time. According to his Wikipedia page, Roach was the announcer for the big game in 2006-2013, 2017, 2020, & now 2021.

Roach was born in Slayton Minnesota and his family then moved up to Brainerd. While he was in high school in Brainerd he got his start in radio and from there the rest is history.

Roach has been the voice of US Bank Stadium since 2016, when the stadium opened up.

So for the remained for the 2nd half of the game, as you hear the PA announcer state the down and distance, just insert the Gjallarhorn sound on 3rd down, and you'll feel like you are inside US Bank Stadium.

Rather than spend a billion dollars on a new home as the Vikings did, you can spend less than 50k on one of these for a new home in 2021.
