Suspected Drowning in Lake Pepin (UPDATED)
Lake City, MN (KROC-AM News) -
The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who is feared drowned in Lake Pepin.
Officials say 69-year-old Terry Lee Woeltge was reported missing around 5 PM Thursday after he fell off a boat in the Lake City area. A news release says a passenger on the boat witnessed Woeltge falling into the water without resurfacing. Officials noted he was not wearing a life jacket.
The Sheriff's Department, along with personnel from the Lake City Fire Department, Goodhue County Sheriff's Department, Winona County Sheriff's Department, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources participated in the search for the missing person Thursday evening until the search had to be suspended due to darkness. It resumed this morning and continued in the afternoon.
