Fentanyl

The first person convicted in the case is now serving a 13 year sentence in federal prison.

Court documents say he was caught with nearly 700 fentanyl pills.

Court records show he has two previous felony convictions in the Rochester area.

He and others were accused of smuggling fentanyl in the Minnesota by hiding it inside stuffed animals packaged as gifts.

At the time of his arrest, he was free on bail after being charged with aggravated robbery in Owatonna.

He was a "no-show" for a hearing last week in Olmsted County Court.

He has previous convictions for criminal sexual conduct, terroristic threats, drug possession, and DWI.

He still faces state charges for the crash that killed the young women.

A joint effort lead to the successful drug bust and an arrest was made.

In each case, he is accused of selling more than 40 fentanyl pills.
