Three Tornadoes Confirmed in NE Iowa, SE Minnesota

La Crosse, WI (KROC AM News) – The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes touched down in NE Iowa and one in SE Minnesota during Monday afternoon’s storm event.
The two Iowa twisters were rated EF-1 with speeds of 100 - 110 mph.
One touched down near Charles City and the other near Lime Springs. Both were on the ground for 9 miles and were about 50 - 60 yards wide. Both also caused widespread damage. A third weaker tornado was confirmed in the area of Greenleafton, Minnesota in Fillmore County near Preston. It was rated E-0 with top speeds of 85 mph. It was 25 yards wide and on the ground for 3 miles.
The storms also produced heavy rain, mainly in Olmsted County where totals were in the 2 - 3-inch range.
Rochester’s official total of 3.33 inches broke the previous record of 2.08 inches for May 27th. It was also the 2nd highest daily total for the month of May. It raised the monthly total to 9.5 inches, the 2nd highest for the month of May.
