Two Teenagers Killed in Crash near Minnesota-Iowa Border
Mabel, MN (KROC-AM News) - It appears today’s snow contributed to a terrible tragedy on a highway near the Minnesota-Iowa border this morning.
The Iowa State Patrol says a car driven by a rural Decorah teenager slid out of control and into the path of a pickup truck driven by another Decorah teenager. The driver of the out of control car, 17-year-old Avery Arneson and one of her four passengers were killed in the crash. Arneson was a senior at Mabel Canton High School and was apparently headed to the school when the deadly collision occurred shortly before 8 AM. The Iowa State Patrol identified the 2nd victim as 13-year-old Aden Arneson.
Another passenger, 14-year-old Alexander Arneson, was airlifted to a hospital in La Crosse, while the 2 other passengers 15-year-old Jack and 14-year-old James Arneson were transported to a hospital in Decorah, Iowa, with serious injuries. The 15-year-old driver of the pickup truck was also transported to the hospital in Decorah, but the State Patrol report indicates he was not seriously hurt.
