Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced today that CFAP 1 CFAP 2 programs have "expanded eligibility for some agricultural producers and commodities as well as updating payments to accurately compensate some producers who already applied for the program." This means farmers that are now eligible can apply or if they need to farmers, can modify their previous applications. County Farm Service Agency offices need to be contacted between January 19, 2021 and February 25, 2021.

Under the expanded CFAP 2 program, contract growers of swine, broilers, laying hens, chicken eggs and turkeys who saw a drop in revenue in 2020 compared to 2019  can receive up to 80 percent of the revenue loss depending on availability of funds. In addition the USDA adjusted the payment calculations for some row crops and livestock under the CFAP 2 program.

Farm Service Agency offices will also be providing an additional inventory payment under CFAP1 for swine producers. "swine producers will "soon automatically receive a top-up payment of $17 per head increasing the total CFAP 1 inventory payment to $34 per head. This is really good news for pork producers as it seems like that segment of agriculture got hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.
