Wabasha, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities have released the name of the elderly man who was found dead in the backwaters of the Mississippi River earlier this week.

A news release from the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 89-year-old Victor Grabau. His obituary posted by the Talbot Funeral Home says his home was in Cochrane, Wisconsin and that he died during what he loved, fishing.

Grabau's body was recovered Monday evening in the Weaver Bottoms area between Winona and Kellogg. The search was launched in that area after the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an unoccupied fishing boat running in circles in the river. The cause of his death has not been determined.
