Currently, USPS says 2.3 million Americans work in the mail industry. And while you don't start out at that wage, but the USPS does note that starting wages begin at a not-too-shabby $21 an hour, and increase after you're on the job 18 months. Plus, you're eligible for federal healthcare benefits plus a federal pension after 10 years. Jobs that start at that wage include letter carriers, mail handlers, window clerks and mail processors. It says there are availabilities for full-time, part-time and seasonal work right now, and that the USPS is accepting applications in all zip codes.

According to this CBS-Minnesota story, the USPS says it's looking to hire 'hundreds of carriers' here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes alone. The story quotes Nicole Hill, a USPS representative here who explained more about their current openings:

"We’re looking for over 100 carriers in the Twin Cities metro, statewide we are looking for a lot more. We are trying to prepare for our peak season and to make sure that we have the staffing to support our customers throughout the busy time," Hill said in the story.

All applications for USPS jobs are online (check them out HERE) and go through the following process: Apply online, take the assessment, and after that, pending approval, an interview could be scheduled.
