Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester’s seasonal street parking restrictions are now in effect.

The ordinance that began Thursday requires alternate side parking for vehicles parked on city streets and in the circular part of cul-de-sacs.

Vehicles are required to be parked on the side of the street with EVEN house numbers when the calendar date is EVEN and with ODD house numbers when the calendar date is ODD.

Vehicle owners are reminded the even/odd requirement begins at 2:00 AM and is in effect through 3:00 PM.

Owners who leave their vehicles on the street in the evening should park them on the side that matches the following day’s date. For example, a vehicle parked on a street Thursday evening should be on the even side to match Friday’s date - Oct 2.

The ordinance does not apply to metered spaces.

The restrictions will be in effect through the end of April.

This is the second year of the policy which the city says allows “crews to be more efficient and effective with seasonal street maintenance activities like street sweeping and snow removal. The result is streets that are easier and safer to navigate all winter long.”
