Minneapolis (KROC AM News) -  Severe weather was reported across southwest and south-central Minnesota Wednesday afternoon and evening and there were numerous reports of suspected tornadoes and funnel clouds.

A tornado was reported in the New Ulm area around 7:00 pm and a funnel cloud was spotted near the Freeborn County town of Alden at 9:30 pm.

There was widespread damage in parts of the Twin Cities caused by strong winds and heavy rain.

 

The severe weather forced the Minnesota Twins to call off their game against Houston at Target Field in the 4th inning.

Earlier in the day, heavy rain and hail were reported in parts of southeast Minnesota.

The National Weather Service says there is a threat of another round of severe weather across Minnesota late Thursday afternoon and evening.
